Interaxo has streamlined Lillehammer municipality’s water and wastewater projects
"Interaxo has made our water and wastewater projects more efficient. Thor Anders Johansen, Project Manager - Water and Sewerage in Lillehammer Municipality, expresses satisfaction with the solution, which has provided increased efficiency and increased capacity for other tasks, as well as reduced costs for project implementation."

Lillehammer municipality has over 28,500 inhabitants and covers an area of 477 km2. Together with the neighbouring municipalities of Øyer and Gausdal, the three municipalities make up the Lillehammer region, which has almost 40,000 inhabitants . The water and sewerage service area in Lillehammer municipality has three departments (50 employees): pipe networks, technical facilities and management/project/development. The project department has 5 project managers with a total investment budget of 150-200M/year. The projects are divided into renovation and new construction of pipe networks, rehab and new construction of technical facilities (waterworks, water pumping stations, elevated water basins, sewage pumping stations, sewage treatment plants).
NEED FOR COLLABORATION ON ONE PLATFORM
- “In order to achieve the goal of increased efficiency and increased capacity for other tasks, as well as the desire of Lillehammer municipality to participate significantly in digital development, there was a need to be able to interact on a platform.”
Background: Lillehammer Municipality had challenges related to the efficient handling of water and wastewater projects and, as a smaller municipality, they needed a solution that was more in line with their requirements and at the same time could support them in these projects.

“We saw the need for interaction on a platform during the execution of the projects,” says Thor Anders Johansen, Project Manager – VA in Lillehammer Municipality.
INTERAXO MAKES IT EASY FOR THE PROJECT MANAGER TO HAVE GOOD CONTROL AND OVERVIEW
Lillehammer municipality has gone from project follow-up using a traditional Windows folder structure to a leased folder structure (“hotel”) and Teams. These have not had good enough solutions for interaction and communication via a platform.
“When using Interaxo, it’s much easier for all participants in the project, as everything is in one place. Clear responsibilities can be assigned with a deadline. If everyone is loyal to the system and performs their registration/follow-up, you can easily find an overview of your own and others’ tasks, documents and drawings.”
Thor Anders says that, as Project Manager, he has good control and overview, and can easily perform detailed searches for information when needed. Email has been virtually eliminated and replaced by Interaxo. Construction meetings are summarized with the establishment of action points during the meeting, or immediately afterwards together with the construction manager. All tasks and information are also registered for comments, and the flow system is now well established. Folders for technical clarifications are not used; they have been replaced by action points.
The use of an advisor from Tribia has been very useful in our start-up with Interaxo, as two very informative workshopswere arranged . Their quick and thorough response to our questions, as well as their ability to clarify our needs, has been valuable to us. In order to ensure good and correct use, we have also taken advantage of several user meetings along the way to ensure good working methods, which has been crucial to ensure the correct use and value of the solution.

Digitization of the water sector
“Digitization in the water and wastewater sector is developing rapidly. Many of the professional systems are cloud-based solutions with the possibility of digital follow-up in the field. Lillehammer Municipality wants to participate significantly in digital development, for example, we are considering model-based project implementation,” says Johansen and concludes with this when we ask him what you want to get out of using Interaxo in the long term:
“In addition to increased efficiency and capacity for other tasks as well as reduced costs, we expect increased quality in the execution of our projects as the risk of errors, defects, omissions and misunderstandings is reduced by the correct and loyal use of Interaxo.”
